BUNAC. This non-profit organization assists students and recent graduates to work legally in Britain, Australia and New Zealand by providing work permits and job search assistance. Contact:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This federal agency provides information on health conditions and recommendations for
immunizations and tips on staying healthy in countries worldwide. Information available on their
website or use their toll-free telephone service to hear announcements or order faxed information
about specific countries or regions. Contact:
Council on International Educational Exchange (Council or CIEE). This nonprofit organization administers study abroad, work abroad, and volunteer abroad programs,
and offers Bowman and Bailey scholarships for study abroad. Contact:
Council Travel. This travel agency (a subsidiary of Council, above) specializes in low-cost student tickets,
railpasses and other items for student travel. Council Travel offers the International Student
Identity Card (ISIC), which is good for discounts abroad, can be used as a phone card with
voicemail, and comes with an emergency assistance hotline and a small health and life insurance
policy. Similar cards available for non-students under 26 (Go-25) and teachers/faculty (ITIC). Hostelling International -- American Youth Hostels. Hostels are the cheapest and friendliest accommodations worldwide. AYH is the American branch of
this nonprofit international organization, and you can get a Hostelling International membership
card from them which is valid at hostels around the world. Contact:

Institute of International Education (IIE). IIE, a non-profit organization, publishes the most comprehensive, thoroughly researched guides to
study abroad, Academic Year Abroad and Short Term Study Abroad, and a guide to scholarships for
study abroad, Financial Resources for International Study.
IIE also administers the Fulbright, NSEP and Gilman scholarship programs, and many international

International Association for Medical Assistance for Travelers. Provides information on English-speaking doctors abroad. Contact:
Lesbigay Special Interest Group of NAFSA Website, a very comprehensive web site on issues of concern to lesbian and gay participants in
international exchange and travel.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators. A nonprofit professional association, NAFSA provides training, information, and other educational
services to professionals and volunteers in international educational exchange. The organization
produces publications for advisors, administrators and students in international educational
exchange. Contact:
Office of Passport Services, U.S. Department of State. Over 3,500 Clerks of Court and Post Offices nationwide accept applications for passports. Be sure
to allow plenty of time -- around one month -- when you apply for a passport! Contact:

Rail Europe. This travel agency issues all kinds of railpasses for Europe. Their website lets you find
