Studyabroad.com to Celebrate International Education Week by Sending a Student to London
Chester, PA, September 24, 2001 -
A summer of study in London, England is the grand prize for the InternationalEducationWeek.com essay contest. The contest is being held to promote the launch of InternationalEducationWeek.com (http://www.internationaleducationweek.com), a charitable donation supporting International Education Week by Studyabroad.com, an online service of Educational Directories Unlimited in Chester, Pennsylvania. Interested students can enter to win by answering one of three essay questions, posted on the Web site about international study and multiculturalism. The Web site is co-sponsored by StudyAbroad.com, the American Institute of Foreign Study (AIFS), and the Institute of International Education (IIE).
The contest's grand prize includes three weeks of study at Richmond - The American International University in London, housing, meals, tuition, and airfare. The grand prize will be provided courtesy of AIFS (http://www.aifsabroad.com), which organizes cultural exchange programs throughout the world for more than 50,000 students each year. The second-prize winner will receive a globe reference set, an elegant globe atop a cherry-stained shelf containing reference books. The third-prize winner will receive a gift certificate to Amazon.com. Honorable mentions will also be chosen, and all winning essays will be published online at InternationalEducationWeek.com and Studyabroad.com after November 12th.
InternationalEducationWeek.com provides a comprehensive resource for students and University officials for International Education Week. University officials, students and other participating groups are invited to post their International Education Week and yearly cultural events on InternationalEducationWeek.com's cultural event calendar at: http://action.edudirectories.com/intled/calendar.taf. Last year, former President Clinton declared the week of November 13-17 as International Education Week. The Second Annual International Education Week will be held on the same week, November 12th-16th, in 2001 and will provide a global forum for promoting and celebrating the benefits of international education.
"Students recognize that study abroad can be an incredibly enriching experience," says Mark Shay, CEO of Educational Directories Unlimited. "The essay contest and Web site are designed to promote the cross-cultural experiences gained through international education. With InternationalEducationWeek.com, we have built a single resource for higher education where anyone can learn about multicultural events on college campuses nationwide."
Essays for the contest must be received no later than October 26, 2001. The winners will be selected by panelists from Studyabroad.com and will be announced the first day of International Education Week, November 12. For details, go to http://www.internationaleducationweek.com/essay.html.
