Educational Directories Unlimited Offers Unique Recruiting Tool with StudentProspector.com
Scotsdale, AZ, April 26, 2001 -
Educational Directories Unlimited, Inc. (EDU), the leading provider of online academic program directories targeted toward prospective students, today announced the launch of StudentProspector.com, a web-enabled tool for universities to recruit the graduate student applicants they so desire. Every time a student registers at Gradschools.com, their profile is saved into a master database, which will be available by subscription for graduate school recruiters. The service will soon be expanded to Studyabroad.com customers by the summer of 2001.
StudentProspector.com reverses the recruitment process. Rather than prospective students seeking graduate programs, recruiters can search for students who fit their criteria as applicants. The database is searchable by undergraduate majors and degrees, and by geographic area as well as many other criteria. Mark Shay, president and founder of EDU, says representatives from many schools and academic departments had expressed a need for such a recruiting service.
"There are many small, special-interest programs that have a collective need to reach students from who might otherwise pass them by," Shay says. "For example, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine is well known for its D.O. program, even though it also offers a great psychology graduate program. Students looking for a program in psychology, however, might never consider looking at PCOM simply because of its name. Sometimes, schools need to get out from behind their branding to reach a broader audience. StudentProspector.com allows them to do this."
According to Shay, the student profiles are extensive, covering approximately half of the information included in a standard school application, including test scores, grade point averages, employment histories and educational backgrounds. The new service also presents schools with greater opportunities to reach and recruit international students.
Additionally, StudentProspector.com allows recruiters advanced searches and contact management functions, allowing them to access the large pool of candidates from the road, their office, or from anywhere they can access the Internet.
Gradschools.com, a leading source of graduate program information provided by EDU, promotes the registration system of StudentPropector.com through its web site. Gradschools.com recorded nearly 1.5 million visitors during the first quarter of 2001.
Fees are based on the size (by student body) of the academic program subscribing to the service. For more information on StudentProspector.com go to http://www.studentprospector.com or e-mail mshay@gradschools.com.
