Educational Directories Unlimited Milestones

1982 to 1989 Mark Shay is hired as a campus representative to distribute advertising material while an engineering student at Syracuse University. He expands this opportunity to begin a part-time marketing business in Philadelphia while he is employed at Conrail. This company, Liberty City Promotions is started as a full time business in 1989. Mark Landon joins Liberty City Promotions in 1994 as a minority partner.
1995 In September of this year StudyAbroad.com is launched. WISC becomes the first Master Sponsor of StudyAbroad.com.
1996 StudyAbroad.com exhibits at NAFSA for the first time, and also mails out the very first StudyAbroad.com advisors kit. The twelfth Master Sponsor position on the site is sold to EF International Language School, which sells out the available positions.
1997 to 1998 GradSchools.com is launched in January with Bryn Mawr College as the first Master Sponsor. (Press Release) The first national poster advertising campaign is launched along with the first exhibit at the Council of Graduate Schools conference.

September of this year Access Group becomes the exclusive corporate sponsor of GradSchools.com. National University becomes the twelfth Master Sponsor of GradSchools.com, selling out the positions.
1999 Liberty City College Promotions is created from Liberty City Promotions, Inc. Educational Directories Unlimited is determined to be the new name for Liberty City Promotions. (Press Release) During this year, affiliate programs are launched on both StudyAbroad.com and GradSchools.com, and a search engine campaign begins on Altavista.com and Yahoo!.

In July over 100 programs (a 100 percent rate) renew annual service on GradSchools.com. Advisor kits are sent to over 1000 universities and the posting campaign is expanded.

Distance.GradSchools.com is launched in October as the first variant of GradSchools.com, while English.StudyAbroad.com is launched as a site dedicated to English Language education. The StudyAbroad.com Express newsletter is also released for the first time. (Press Release)

2000 Affiliate advertising is expanded with Commission Junction; New co-branding begins with VarsityBooks.com and Altavista.com. (Press Release)In March Business.GradSchools.com is launched and the StudyAbroad.com Destination Portals launch. (Press Release)

Several staff positions are filled including graphic artist, event manager, database specialist and GradSchools.com content manager. This brings the total number of employees to 11 full time and 3 part time. September brings Sam Guittare to EDU as the Vice President of Operations. (Press Release)

GradSchoolFairs.com is launchedd in September and in October the Wharton School/Philadelphia Business Journal ranks EDU as number 29 of the Top 100 fastest growing companies in the Philadelphia area. (Press Release)
2001 Several new sites are launched this year. January launched the all new GradSchoolFairs.com, (Press Release) April launched Certificates.GradSchool.com (Press Release) and StudentProspector.com. (Press Release) EDU partners with Blackboard.com (Press Release) and also with IIE to relaunch the IIEPassport.org website.(Press Release) GradSchools.com also starts the International.GradSchools.com website. In addition, StudyAbroad.com launches an Internation Education Week essay contest in conjunction with AIFS.(Press Release)

EDU hosts the NAFSA reception at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. (See the photos)

CEO Mark Shay appears on CNNfn and CNBC to discuss the graduate school market. Also EDU is ranked number 31 in the Wharton School/Philadelphia Business Journal's Top 100 fastest growing companies in the Philadelphia area. (Press Release)
2002 April of this year starts the beginning of another new website: EducationforAdults.com, an online directory of adult education programs. CollegeAbroad.com is launched in September. StudyAbroad.com launches InternationalEducationWeek.com for the second year in a row.

EDU makes the Philadelphia Top 100 for the third year in a row.
2003 StudyAbroad.com launches their first student photo contest and in June starts the Language of the Month campaign.

EDU E-mail Recruiting, a newsletter and e-mail marketing management service, is launched. Educational Directories Unlimited and the Institute of International Education expand their alliance to include the IIEPassport Print Directories. EDU Internet Strategies selects edGenuiti Worldwide to expand its Internet Strategies service. August brings a relaunch of Fellowships.GradSchools.com.

Educational Directories Unlimited is ranked #20 in Inc Magazine's Inner City 100. This is the fourth year in a row that the company has made this list. For the Inc 500, EDU is listed at #336.

The company incorporates the first piece of eScout.
2004 The President's Club level of advertising is introduced. IIEPassport rolls out study abroad print directories, and BlogAbroad.com, the world's first online interactive reality show, is launched in December.

Educational Directories Unlimited adds five staff members. The EDU Internet Strategies staff doubles. A management consultant is brought in to help with the companies explosive growth, which brings about a significant corporate reorganization.

EDU moves into a newer bigger building. Mark Shay is quoted in United Press International.
2005 Several initiatives are started within the products, including, StudentProspector's Refer-a-Friend program, EducationforAdults.com's zip code search and continuing education blog, and the GradSchools.com GradPortal initiative. In addition, EDU Internet Strategies experiences its highest activity in its history and also releases the EDUInsight monthly online newsletter.

StudyAbroad.com celebrates its 10th anniversary in June.

Educational Directories Unlimited celebrates another year of inclusion in the Inner City 100 list. BlogAbroad.com is featured in the Chronicle of Higher Education and one of the bloggers is interviewed in Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
2006 UCEAdirectory.org is launched in January. BlogAbroad.com adds podcasts to it's interactive site, and salesman Jeremy Steinberg sets a new company record by logging $98,475 in sales in one day during March.

During the month of April, Educational Directories Unlimited is sold to Halyard Capital, a powerful investment firm that aims to take the company to the next level in higher education. (Press Release)

The Mayor of Chester, Wendell N. Butler, Jr., honors EDU as one of 2006's Inner City 100, and State Senator Dominic F. Pileggi awards the company a Citation of Commendation.
